Woolbridge Vad efternamn betyder
probably from Wool Bridge in East Stoke (Dorset) or Woolbridge in Mayfield (Sussex) though the medieval bearer from Norfolk cannot be easily explained. The Dorset place-name is recorded as Wellebrigge in 1318 and takes its name from Wool in Dorset (see Wool) + Old English brycg ‘bridge’. The Sussex place-name is recorded as Wolbridge in 1562; its etymology is uncertain due to a lack of medieval forms though the final element appears to be Old English brycg.
