Ragg Vad efternamn betyder
apparently from Middle English ragge ‘scrap of cloth flap (of a garment) rag’ perhaps for someone who wore tattered clothing or clothes ornamented with strips of fabric. Alternatively ragge might have been a reduced form of Middle English ragged ‘tattered shaggy’. Some medieval examples may belong with Rage. Post-medieval examples may otherwise belong with (2) or (3). perhaps occasionally from Rag Field in Wonersh (Surrey). The place-name probably derives from Middle English ragge ‘moss lichen’ (Old English *ragge a side-form of ragu). see Wragg.
