For the -d- compare the word jaundice from Old French jaunice. The variant Jod(e)rell may have arisen through misreading Jandrell as *Jaudrell. Note William Jawdrell 1448 in PROB 11 whose name may be an early form of Jodrell or a misreading of Jaundrell.
