Lacon Vad efternamn betyder
from Lacon in Wem (Shrops) which is recorded as Lakene in 1271– The place-name probably means ‘at the drainage channels’ from the dative plural form of Old English lacu ‘small stream water course drainage channel’. The surname has probably been confused with or absorbed by Lakin (1) especially in counties adjoining Shrops such as Staffs. while the name in Yorks could be that in (1) through migration its appearance in late 14th-century Clint in the north-west of WR Yorks and the persistent final -can in most early forms of the surname suggest that it may have had a different but unknown origin.
