Kiddle Vad efternamn betyder
from Middle English kidel kedel ‘fishing weir of stakes wattles and nets’ (Anglo-Norman French kidel(l) kydel(e) Old French quidel cuidel) for someone who lived by worked at or had charge of such a weir. Compare Katharine Kydelman 1327 in Subsidy Rolls (Essex). sometimes perhaps from Kiddal in Barwick in Elmet (WR Yorks) although Redmonds Dictionary of Yorks Surnames notes that the surname from this source may have died out in the 17th century. The place-name is recorded as Kyddale and Kydale in medieval documents and probably derives from the Old English personal name Cydda + Old English halh ‘nook corner of land’.
