Feakin Vad efternamn betyder
variant of Falcon. Compare Robertus Faucon' 1381 in Poll Tax (Saddington Leics) with Willm Facon 1607 in IGI (Saddington Leics). The diphthong of Middle English faucon has been simplified to /a:/ becoming early Modern English /ɛ:/ usually spelled a or ea. The resulting Facon has usually developed to Fakin and Feakin. This is the most likely source of the name in Northants. there is no history of Falcon and its variants in Kent where Feakin more likely derives from a variant of Ficken (2) with lengthening and lowering of the vowel of Middle English Fikin to give Fekin. It is clearly related to Feakins as a family name and has been absorbed by it.
