Kanada, utvalda tjänstgöringsregister för soldater, 1914-1918

More than 600,000 Canadians enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War. Canada’s last surviving veteran of that conflict died in February 2010, but the memory of Canada’s soldiers is being kept alive by the “Lest We Forget” educational initiative, a program that gives students access to the stories of Canadian soldiers through the history and documents they left behind.

Ancestry.com is pleased to be partnering with Library and Archives Canada (LAC) to provide selections from the personnel files of 100 First World War veterans online as part of the “Lest We Forget” effort. Access to the records is free, and each file in this database includes approximately 20 pages of documents for one soldier that can deal with enlistment, training, wounds and medical issues, and correspondence, both military and personal.

The documents are searchable by soldier’s name, birth date, and keyword. Users will also be able to browse by soldier’s name.
