This database contains images of about 2,000 insolvent debtor case files filed at the Supreme Court of the State of New York for the City and County of New York between 1787 and 1861 that contain Jewish sounding names. These records primarily consist of insolvent assignments, including a discharge of the debtor’s debts and an assignment of assets to be sold or otherwise benefited to creditors. Some records include an inventory of the debtor’s assets.

These records are arranged alphabetically by surname of the debtor.
